What you'll do

When it comes to IT, Toolstation is unique. All software that runs the company is developed and maintained in-house. Using open-source technologies, everything from our consumer website, our shop tills, to our warehouse stock control has been created from the ground up. If you're looking for a role where you can design a whole new way of working, set best practice for the whole business and work directly with the Technical Director then this the role for you. 

Paving the way in this newly created role. Working with and embracing agile development methodologies you'll work alongside the software development & project teams to drive the development and deployment environments and processes. You will play a key role in the testing and deployment of Toolstation’s bespoke business systems used in Toolstation UK and Europe. 

• Be at the forefront of improving our development processes, taking ownership of the design, maintenance and deployment of our dev environments using open source technology 
• Manage and create workflows for continuous integration, testing, and deployment 
• Maintain application dependencies and ensure updates are applied and potential security issues are resolve 
• Create application releases and deploying to staging systems, configuring automated tests, and reporting results via dashboards and notification systems 
• As the sole Dev Ops Engineer, you will be working closely with software engineers to support best practice 
• Reporting to the Technical Director, you will need to provide appropriate documentation 
What you'll bring
• 3+ year’s experience as a DevOps engineer 
• 5+ year’s experience working with Linux 
• Git 
• Docker 
• CI/CD Platform (Jenkins, Travis, Bamboo etc) 
• Bash scripting 
• Good knowledge of open-source libraries/packages 
• Fundamental knowledge and some experience with coding with PHP and JavaScript.
