Recruiting the very best

Our business is growing at an amazing pace, with on-going plans to open new stores across the UK. This means that, as well as finding the best people to staff these stores, we also need people in every business area to support this expansion.

With our strong training and development programmes, we’ll always look to promote from within to meet our business needs. This means we’re always looking for great people who want to start their career in our branches, distribution centres, contact centres and head office teams. But we’re growing so fast that we also need experienced people at every level.

But whatever level we recruit at, we’re always looking for a Toolstation kind of person. Someone with a real can-do attitude who gets on with people, wants to do their best and who’s always looking for a better way to do things. A quick learner and a positive thinker, who’s always puts the customer first, no matter what team they join. Most of all, someone who sees being here as more than just a job.

Getting ready for interviews

Getting ready for interviews

Whether you’re going to be interviewed over the phone or face-to-face, it’s always a good idea to prepare in advance.

Take a look at the job description and think about the kind of things we might want to know in the interview. For example, what skills will you need? Think of real-life examples when you’ve shown these before – either at work,

In your interview

In your interview

Don’t worry if you’re the kind of person who gets nervous about interviews. We’ll always try to make you feel relaxed before the interview starts, but there are a few ways you can try to settle your nerves. It’s not a test – it’s more of a chance for us both to get to know each other, so we just want you to be yourself.

If you’re having a phone interview, it’s always a good idea to find somewhere quiet where there aren’t any distractions. This will help you to concentrate on your answers.

For a face-to-face interview, always try to get there in plenty of time, so you don’t arrive in a rush. And if you’re running late, call and let us know. Printing out the details of where to go is always a good idea too, just in case you can’t get them on your phone. When you’re in the interview, look the interviewer in the eye when you answer and try to breathe normally, as this helps you to relax.
