Our Retail Division has grown enormously in the last few years and that has created lots of exciting and challenging positions for those individuals wanting a career where they will be working in a fast paced environment.

We are always on the lookout for the very best retail talent around whether it be an experienced single site Manager interested in coming on board to run one of our fast growing Trade Counters or you want to join us in a Junior Management role such as Branch Supervisor or Assistant Manager where your potential will be identified and you will be given every opportunity to advance your career in a structured and well supported environment.

But what we really love are those individuals out there who join us at Customer Service Representative level who have a genuine and real skill in a customer facing environment. For those people the opportunities are limitless and will help us fuel the continued growth of Toolstation.

It doesn't stop there though as in our current Senior Team we have Regional Directors and Compliance Audit Leaders who started their careers with us in stores and are now carrying out roles within the business with large degrees of responsibility but with good levels of reward and recognition.

We are not looking for candidates with a Retail background just people with a passion for service who enjoy working in a culture of compliance helping to drive a Simple, Efficient and Consistent proposition.

Emma

Emma joined Toolstation five years ago as a Retail Sales Assistant. Through dedication and hard work Emma has progressed through the management team and is now managing one of our busy London stores.

  1. What is the best experience you have had since joining Toolstation?

    My best experience so far is being given the opportunity to manage my own store, I joined the company as a Retail Sales Assistant and have slowly worked my way up with the help of some fantastic people and I am enjoying the experience.

  2. How would you describe a typical day at work?

    I generally spend some time on paperwork and problem solving when I first arrive, after that I serve customers, carry out stock checks, put away delivery and clean and tidy the store. The days are very varied and you get to meet a wide variety of people.

  3. What is the best thing about working for Toolstation?

    I think the best thing about Toolstation is the help available for development, there is a big emphasis on promotion from within and people are available to help you along the way. Toolstation holds regular training sessions and meetings with other managers in the region which I personally have found very informative and helpful. I believe I have developed professionally with the company.

Dan initially joined the Retail division as a Store Manager, and has progressed to Regional Director.

    Being able to demonstrate my skills to enhance my career further and the ability to grow to a Regional Director.

  3. How would you describe a typical day at work?

    As a Regional Director no two days are the same. One day I would be visiting a store and the next at development meetings in Head Office. The day and time goes so fast a Toolstation when your developing.

    The hours were convenient, being a working parent I was looking for something part time to fit in with my child care arrangements but with a friendly, fun atmosphere.

    Meeting new people. I really enjoy interacting with our customers and with my colleagues.

    Receiving praise and recognition for hard work. We have regular reviews with management which is a good way to know you’re on track.

    The environment is busy but enjoyable. You learn something new every day which is rewarding.

    The people you work with, the days are busy with lots of regular customers so you get to build a good relationship with our customers, I find the social aspect of working here really enjoyable.
